101 problem free a handful of cars made their way into san francisco. james. >> thank you erica. crews this morning are working on cleaning up the mangled metal outlet behind after a crane involved in work on the new bay bridge collapsed. this is video from a helicopter partnership with abc seven news. you can see workers working to tear down the crane. the crane was on a barge underneath the new span when it fell around noon yesterday. it was helping to remove the temporary support structure and was holding a piece of the structure at the time. >> the piece of work that was involved in taking to the bay bridge construction campus. the two cranes that are out there now were part of the process are being secured and the investigation will take its natural course to find out what happened. >> at this point it does not appear as though the new span was damaged on the crane collapsed. but construction officials will want to confirm that as a part of their investigation. the new bridge is still expected to open over the labor day weekend. >> today marks the 36th consecutive day gas prices h

bit of snowfalling across the region. erica grow is in the weather center. hi erica. >> we have some light snow showers moving through. not a big snow accumulation. you can see exactly what we have going on right now. you can see what looks like pockets of heavier snow over the d.c. metro area. but because of how dry it is at the surface, a lot of this is not even reaching the ground. we will continue to see more bands of snow showers move through as we head through the overnight. since temperatures are below freezing in a couple locations, you can see there are 28 and 29's on the map in the north and west suburbs of the district. looks like we could see some snow sticking to the roadways and sidewalks, just like we had on friday morning. that's not our only potential for snow in the forecast. i'll give you more details coming up that could start off the workweek. bruce, back to you. >> some local sports figures could be making big news this evening. rg3 is in new orleans, we're told. he is up for nfl rook dei of the year. jonathan could be voted into the hall of fame. kristen berse

winds across the region. let's go over to erica grow. >> that's right, bruce. we had strong winds during the overnight and into the early morning and they are a result of this huge blizzard that is up in the northeast. we still actually have some snow showing up on satellite and radar from that departing blizzard. you can see it affecting eastern portions of maine, but pulling away and gusty winds will create blizzard conditions in the northeast because of that blowing snow. here at home, we are in the clear and it was a decent afternoon once the wind settled down a little bit. of course, they are gusty, but nowhere near where they were. 48 miles an hour with a peek wind gust. in new market, we had a wind gust of 46 miles per hour. the peek wind gust throughout the area were between 45 and 50 in general. but we did have a peek wind gust outside of dulles airport of 55 miles per hour. so when you factor in how chilly it is out there with upper 30s to around 40 degrees, that windchill making it feel like it's in the 20s all day long and overnight tonight, it's going to get downright
